SeriousGearbox & TransmissionThe 7-speed dry-clutch DQ200 and later wet-clutch DQ381 can suffer mechatronic unit and clutch wear, especially on cars with poor service history.
The 2017 facelift brought the 1.5 TFSI engine replacing the 1.4, with improved efficiency but a known water-pump internal-leak issue. Later cars with documented water-pump history are the safest used 8V buy.

The 1.4 TSI chain-driven engines (EA211) can develop timing chain stretch and tensioner rattle, especially on early 8V cars.
Plastic cooling components warp and leak on many 8Vs, often starting as a slow loss with no puddle underneath.
Infotainment screen freezes, MMI reboots, intermittent reversing camera failures, and various intermittent warning lights are widely reported.
