Common Problems with the
2020 Fiat Panda (Mk3 / Type 319)

The 2020 Panda Hybrid replaced the 1.2 with a 1.0 FireFly mild hybrid and a six-speed manual, cutting CO2 and improving urban economy. Fiat withdrew the 4x4 in May 2022 and later renamed the City Cross simply Cross.

What changed for 2020

  • •1.0 FireFly three-cylinder mild hybrid with 70PS, a 12V belt starter-generator and an 11Ah lithium-ion battery
  • •Six-speed manual gearbox and a KERS-style energy recovery system
  • •Panda 4x4 and Cross 4x4 withdrawn in May 2022 because of component shortages
  • •City Cross 4x2 renamed Panda Cross in late 2022 as the range was simplified

Common MOT watch-outs

  • !Rear axle bushes and corroded rear beam, still the Panda's most common structural advisory
  • !Worn front drop links and top mounts causing knocks over UK speed humps
  • !Corroded brake discs and pipes on low-mileage hybrids used mainly in town
