Durashift EST Automated Manual Transmission Actuator Fault
SeriousGearbox & TransmissionThe optional Durashift Electronic Shift Transmission (EST) utilizes an automated mechanical clutch and electro-mechanical gear selector actuators mounted to a standard manual gearbox. Over time, internal electric actuator motors suffer brush wear, moisture ingress, or solder joint failure on the integrated control module. When the transmission control unit loses position calibration or cannot actuate the clutch, the system enters fail-safe mode, flashing a transmission warning on the instrument cluster and preventing engine cranking.
Car refuses to start with an N or dash flashing erratically on the instrument cluster display, Jerky, delayed gear shifts with severe clunking when pulling away from standstill, Transmission drops into neutral unexpectedly while driving, leaving the car stranded
- Check gear selector movement through Reverse, Neutral, and Drive from cold to verify immediate engagement
- Verify that the starter motor cranks instantaneously when key is turned in Neutral
