The fourth-generation Sorento (MQ4) moved Kia's seven-seat flagship onto the N3 platform in 2020, reaching UK dealers in 2021 with a 2.2-litre Smartstream CRDi diesel, a 1.6 T-GDi self-charging hybrid and, from later that year, a plug-in hybrid. All UK cars are all-wheel drive and automatic: an eight-speed wet DCT for the diesel, a six-speed automatic for the hybrids. The cabin is a big step up, with dual 12.3-inch screens on facelifted cars, and the 2,500kg towing rating keeps it relevant to caravan owners. Reliability is generally strong, but the diesel DCT had a well-publicised electric oil pump recall, hybrid 12V batteries drain when cars sit unused, and infotainment glitches are common enough to check. It is a lot of car for the money against a Santa Fe or Discovery Sport.

8-Speed Wet DCT Electric Oil Pump Fault (2.2 CRDi Recall)
