The Gallardo LP560-4 arrived with a revised 5.2-litre V10 producing 552bhp and permanent all-wheel drive. These later cars are more refined and reliable, with improved infotainment and reduced maintenance concerns.

Early Gallardos (2003–2008) are particularly prone to intermittent electrical issues, including random dashboard warning lights, sensor malfunctions, pixel failures in the instrument cluster LCD, and dry solder joints on the main relay board causing intermittent no-start conditions. The battery draws significant parasitic current even when parked and can drain in as little as two weeks.
The 5.0L and 5.2L V10 engines can develop higher-than-expected oil consumption as they age, particularly around valve cover gaskets and camshaft seals. The engine can consume up to 1 litre per 1,000 miles if gaskets have deteriorated. Oil leaks from the valley of the V can drip onto the undertray, making them hard to spot visually.
