Buying Tips for 2004 Rover 25

  • The K-Series head gasket is the primary issue; check the oil filler cap for white "mayonnaise" and the coolant for oil mixing.
  • Inspect the rear wheel arches and the bottom of the tailgate for rust.
  • Test the heater blower on all settings; if it only works on speed 4, the resistor pack needs replacing.
  • Listen for suspension knocks from the front; the lower wishbone bushes wear out frequently.
  • Check the operation of the central locking and alarm, which can become erratic due to failing door actuators.
  • Examine the interior headlining, which frequently sags and requires re-gluing or pinning.
