Common Problems with the
2006 Skoda Superb Mk1

The 3B1 Superb received its minor facelift in August 2006: Škoda's new chrome-surrounded grille, restyled headlights, side repeaters in the door mirrors, C-shaped tail lights echoing the Roomster, revised specification levels and improved sound insulation. Engines ran from the 1.8T 20V through the 3.6 VRFour to the 2.0 TDI PD and new 1.9 TDI units. These late cars are the cheapest way into vast space, but the Passat-derived platform's multi-link front subframe and the liftback's comfort electronics are the two things to check.

What changed for 2006

  • •New front grille, headlights and rear light design for the August 2006 restyle
  • •Revised trim and equipment aligned with the outgoing Octavia Mk1
  • •Diesel range strengthened with the 2.0 TDI PD joining the 1.9

Common MOT watch-outs

  • !Subframe and front mounting corrosion, an MOT fail point on wintersalt cars
  • !Worn multi-link front suspension bushes and ball joints
  • !Light-cluster misting and failed side repeaters
