Rear Wheel Arch and Inner Sill Corrosion
SeriousBodywork & RustSevere structural corrosion is the primary killer of first-generation Suzuki Vitaras in the UK. Road salt, water, and mud thrown up by the rear wheels become trapped behind the rear plastic arch flares, inside the inner wheel arch tubs, and along the box-section sills. Because factory rustproofing was minimal, the steel rots extensively from behind the cosmetic mouldings, progressing to large perforations in the floor pan, seatbelt anchor points, and chassis body mounts that fail MOT tests.
Extensive crumbling rust and holes concealed behind the rear wheel arch plastic spats, Perforated metal and soft rot along the outer sills, rear floor pan, and boot corners, MOT test failure for structural corrosion within prescribed areas of body mountings
- Inspect the inner rear wheel arches and feel behind the plastic wheel arch extensions for crumbling metal
- Examine the rear floor pan inside the boot by lifting the carpet and checking around the seat mounts
- Check the outer sills and underside body mount brackets with a torch and probe
