The vehicle maintains a clean record of roadworthiness, with the most recent test on 12 April 2024 at 156,363 miles resulting in a pass with no recorded defects. This string of three consecutive clear MOT certificates indicates a stable and well-maintained condition over the last five years. The absence of advisories suggests that the current keeper is proactive with mechanical upkeep, addressing potential issues before they escalate into formal test failures. The recorded mileage of 156,363 over forty-two years averages approximately 3,723 miles per annum, which is exceptionally low for a vehicle of this vintage. The data shows very light usage, with only 1,472 miles covered between the October 2021 test and the April 2024 inspection. While this limited mileage reduces wear on the drivetrain and internal engine components, long periods of inactivity often lead to the degradation of rubber seals, hoses, and fuel system integrity. Prospective buyers should focus their physical inspection on the structural integrity of the chassis and subframes, as older BMWs of this era are prone to corrosion in the sills, wheel arches, and floor pans. Even with clean MOT history, surface rust can hide significant structural thinning that may not be captured during a standard test. Inspect the condition of all flexible brake hoses and cooling system components for signs of perishing due to age. Verify that the suspension bushes and dampers remain supple, as low-mileage examples frequently suffer from seized or perished rubber components that compromise handling and ride quality.
