1987 Bedford Rascal 1.0L Petrol · D252 EDD

The Bedford Rascal presents a highly stable roadworthiness profile with a consistent history of clean MOT passes. The most recent test conducted on 29 December 2025 at 49,062 miles resulted in no defects or advisories. This continued streak of passes across the last five tests indicates that the vehicle has been maintained to a high standard and that mechanical components are meeting regulatory requirements without recurring failures. The mileage pattern is exceptionally low for a 39-year-old vehicle, averaging approximately 1,258 miles per year. Data shows significant periods of relative inactivity, notably between November 2019 and October 2021, where the car covered only 228 miles in two years. Since 2022, the usage has increased slightly, covering 1,528 miles between the 2022 and 2025 tests. While low mileage reduces wear on the drivetrain, the long intervals between tests suggest potential degradation of rubber-based components and fluid chemistry despite lack of use. Despite the clean digital record, a buyer must perform a physical inspection focused on structural integrity and age-related decay. Vehicles of this era are prone to hidden corrosion in the sills, floor pans, and suspension mounting points which MOT testers may not fully expose unless they are perforated. You should specifically check for perished brake hoses, cracked timing belts, and seized calipers, as these issues often arise in vehicles that sit for extended periods. Inspect the tyres for sidew rot to ensure the low mileage has not masked material fatigue caused by age the long periods of storage noted in the history.
