1999 Nissan Micra 1.0L Petrol · S328 NLN

This 1999 Nissan Micra’s most recent MOT test occurred on 5 August 2022, over four years ago, placing it well beyond the current 2026-2027 testing window. The record shows an unusual dual entry for that date—one pass and one fail—both without recorded defects, which suggests either a clerical error or a test centre anomaly rather than a genuine roadworthiness assessment. Without any subsequent tests, the vehicle’s current condition cannot be confirmed, and the absence of recent MOT data introduces significant uncertainty. The last verified pass in August 2022 implies no documented issues at that time, but the lack of updates means critical components like suspension bushes, coil springs, and brake calipers may have degraded beyond their original pass criteria. The recorded mileage of 72,378 miles over approximately 27 years equates to roughly 2,681 miles per year, a figure unusually low for a vehicle of this age. This suggests either limited use or prolonged periods of inactivity, which could exacerbate issues like corrosion or suspension stiffness. The sparse MOT history—just two entries spanning over four years—fails to provide meaningful context for wear patterns. Such gaps typically indicate either inconsistent ownership or a lack of regular servicing, both of which warrant closer scrutiny of high-wear areas. Given the lack of recent MOT data, a buyer should prioritise an independent inspection of the suspension system, particularly the rear bushes and coil springs, which are prone to failure in vehicles of this age. The brakes—especially rear calipers and discs—should be checked for uneven wear or binding, as these are common fail points in older Micras. Structural integrity, including underbody corrosion and frame rigidity, must also be assessed, as prolonged inactivity can accelerate rust development. The absence of emissions testing in the latest entries may signal a need for a diagnostic check of the catalytic converter or fuel system, though this cannot be confirmed without a recent test.
