2012 Vauxhall Astra 1.6L Petrol · SY12 AVR

The 2012 Vauxhall Astra demonstrates stable roadworthiness, with no defects recorded in its most recent MOT on 2025-12-05 at 49,152 miles. The prior three tests from 2024 to 2023 also showed no issues, indicating consistent maintenance. However, a 2022-11-28 test recorded a failure with no defects listed, raising questions about the accuracy of that entry. Despite this anomaly, the vehicle’s recent history suggests reliable performance, with no recurring mechanical or structural concerns. The car’s mileage of 49,152 miles over 14 years equates to an average of 3,511 miles annually, significantly below the UK average for its age. This low usage aligns with MOT tests spaced approximately 12 months apart, though the 2022-11-28 failure and subsequent pass in 2023-12-07 at 31,614 miles suggest irregularities in the testing timeline. The absence of defects in the last four tests implies minimal wear on critical systems, though the low mileage may mask long-term degradation in components like suspension bushes or exhaust corrosion. A buyer should verify the vehicle’s structural integrity, particularly underbody rust, given the low mileage and potential for prolonged inactivity. Inspect the suspension for coil spring fatigue and check brake discs for uneven wear, as these can develop unnoticed in infrequently driven cars. The exhaust system warrants close attention, as low-mileage vehicles are prone to internal corrosion. While the MOT record shows no immediate risks, a pre-purchase inspection should confirm the absence of hidden issues exacerbated by inactivity.
