1996 Toyota Land Cruiser 4.2L Diesel · 4 CDM

The vehicle presents a high level of roadworthiness, evidenced by a consistent history of clean passes. The most recent test conducted on 23 December 2025 at 171,019 miles resulted in no recorded defects, mirroring the outcomes of the previous four inspections. This trend suggests a stable maintenance regime where the owner has proactively addressed any mechanical or safety issues before they could result in an MOT failure. The mileage profile is notably low for a thirty-year-old Land Cruiser, averaging approximately 5,700 miles per year. Between January 2024 and December 2025, the vehicle covered 7,574 miles, indicating a consistent but low-intensity usage pattern. There is a significant gap between the December 2022 and January 2024 tests where only 2,666 miles passed over thirteen months. While low mileage reduces wear on the drivetrain and engine, it can sometimes lead to the degradation of rubber-based components and seals if the vehicle has sat stationary for extended periods. Given the lack of recorded advisories, a physical inspection should focus on the structural integrity of the chassis and frame rails. Older Toyotas of this era are prone to corrosion in hidden cavities that a standard MOT may not fully penetrate until perforation becomes advanced. The buyer should also examine the suspension bushes, coil springs, and brake lines for cracking or per, as these age and perish regardless of low mileage. Checking for fluid leaks around the engine and gearbox is essential to ensure the low-use history has not masked underlying seal failures.
