2022 MINI John Cooper Works 2.0L Petrol · AM13 AXE

A near-perfect roadworthiness record defines this 2022 MINI John Cooper Works, with the most recent MOT on 24 July 2026 returning a clean pass and no advisories logged against the vehicle at that test. Across the recorded DVSA history the car has not produced any failures, and only a single test cycle in November 2025 generated advisory notes, all relating to the braking system. This is a credible indication that the structure, suspension, emissions, lighting, and corrosion checks have remained within prescribed limits at every assessment, suggesting the vehicle has not suffered the chronic advisories or repeat rectification failures that can foreshadow deeper mechanical or structural concerns in performance-orientated hatchbacks of this age. The recorded mileage of 45,768 miles over approximately four years equates to an annual accumulation of around 11,400 miles, which sits broadly in line with typical private or mixed usage for a modern hot hatch. There are no significant gaps in the testing record or unexplained jumps in odometer readings between tests, and the steady progression implies continuous rather than sporadic use. From a mechanical standpoint, this consistent pattern is generally preferable to either long periods of standing, which can degrade brake discs, tyre shoulders, and underbody protection, or excessively high mileage that accelerates wear on the JCW-specific components such as the uprated brakes, multi-link rear suspension, and turbocharged drivetrain. For a prospective buyer, the November 2025 advisories warrant focused attention rather than alarm. The front brake pads were flagged as wearing thin, and since this car passed without advisories only eight months later, the pads were either replaced in the intervening period or the assessment was a borderline reading, so pad and disc condition should be physically inspected for remaining friction material and disc thickness, with particular care taken for any scoring on the front discs that would necessitate replacement. The two rear inner brake pads were noted as wearing unevenly on the inside edge, a condition that frequently points to seized or binding rear caliper guide pins or a sticking handbrake mechanism, so on a test drive the car should be driven at low speed with the handbrake released and listened for any residual rubbing, while a hands-on check of the rear calipers for smooth slider movement is advisable before purchase. Beyond the brake-specific items, the JCW platform uses multi-link rear suspension geometry that benefits from a deliberate inspection for any clonks, knocks, or vibration through the steering over uneven surfaces, which would suggest worn rear trailing arm or control arm bushes. Given the turbocharged nature of the vehicle, a cold-start observation for any persistent exhaust smoke or coolant odours is prudent, and the front subframe and its mounting points should be visually examined for the corrosion patterns that have been observed on earlier MINI models, even though no such advisories have been recorded here. A thorough road test covering a mix of urban stop-start driving, a sustained motorway section to check for vibration or pulling under load, and several deliberate sharp bends to expose any suspension slack will provide the clearest picture of whether the car remains as clean mechanically as its MOT record currently suggests.
