2020 Jeep Renegade Night Eagle 1.0L Petrol · BG20 DXC

The most recent MOT test for the 2020 Jeep Renegade Night Eagle was conducted on 2025-07-28, resulting in a passing outcome with one advisory noted. This record follows a consistent pattern of passing MOTs over the past three years, indicating a stable maintenance history without critical failures or repeated issues. The absence of failures and the presence of only minor advisories, particularly related to tyre wear, suggest that the vehicle has been maintained within legal standards but may require closer attention to specific wear patterns that could escalate if unaddressed. The advisory from 2025-07-28—tyre wear on the offside front tyre approaching the legal limit—is a recurring concern, as it highlights a potential area of concern that should be monitored for progression, particularly given the tyre’s position on the vehicle and its susceptibility to uneven loading or misalignment. The recorded mileage of 19,130 miles for a vehicle aged six years represents a relatively low annual usage rate of approximately 3,188 miles per year, which is notably lower than the typical wear rate for a similarly aged compact SUV in the UK. Such low mileage can stem from infrequent use, long periods of stationary storage, or a preference for alternative transportation methods. However, this usage profile may mask underlying issues, particularly in components prone to corrosion or degradation from prolonged inactivity, such as the brake system, suspension, or electrical components. For instance, standing vehicles can lead to brake disc corrosion or caliper binding due to moisture exposure, while suspension bushes and coil springs may develop stiffness or leaks if not regularly serviced. Additionally, fluid degradation—such as in the brake fluid, differential oil, or coolant—can accelerate over time, even with minimal usage, and may not be immediately apparent but could compromise long-term reliability. Given the MOT history’s focus on tyre wear advisories, the prospective buyer should conduct a thorough inspection of the front tyres, particularly the offside front tyre, to confirm the extent of the wear and ensure it is not exacerbated by alignment or suspension issues. On a test drive, listen for any irregularities such as uneven tyre noise, which could indicate misalignment or camber problems. The buyer should also check for signs of fluid leaks around the front wheels, as well as inspect the brake system for any signs of corrosion on the discs or binding in the calipers, which could become problematic if the vehicle is stored for extended periods. Additionally, verify the tyre tread depth on all tyres to ensure they meet the legal minimum and consider rotating the tyres if the wear pattern suggests directional bias. For practical checks relevant to the vehicle’s age and low mileage profile, the buyer should examine the tyre sidewalls for signs of perishing or cracking, which can indicate age-related degradation despite low usage. Inspect the 12-volt battery for signs of corrosion on terminals or a decline in performance, as low usage can lead to battery drain from parasitic loads or prolonged disuse. Check the brake fluid level and condition, as standing vehicles can absorb moisture, which lowers the fluid’s boiling point and compromises braking efficiency. A visual inspection of the brake discs for surface corrosion or uneven wear is also advisable, as is listening for any grinding or squeaking noises during braking, which could signal caliper binding or worn brake pads. Finally, the buyer should verify the service history for time-based maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, coolant flushes, and suspension servicing, as these are critical for long-term reliability, especially in a vehicle that may have spent extended periods stationary.
