2016 BMW X5 XDRIVE40D M Sport Auto 3.0L Diesel · BJ16 ODX

The February 2026 MOT at 96,368 miles returned a clean pass with no defects recorded, continuing an unbroken sequence of five consecutive passes stretching back to October 2021. This record demonstrates a stable maintenance trajectory with no deterioration in the vehicle's roadworthiness status over the observed period. The absence of advisories across all tests suggests consistent upkeep and no deferred mechanical issues. Annual mileage progression reveals moderate, steady use with no anomalous spikes or prolonged inactivity. From October 2021 at 67,304 miles to February 2026 at 96,368 miles, the vehicle accumulated approximately 29,064 miles. The intervals between tests show consistent annual distances: roughly 4,113 miles between October 2021 and November 2022, 4,687 miles to November 2023, 10,266 miles to January 2025, and 9,111 miles to February 2026. The notably higher annual mileage from late 2023 onwards indicates increased use, though still within reasonable bounds for this drivetrain. No test was conducted in 2024, though the January 2025 entry at 87,257 miles bridges this gap without concern. The MOT history provides no evidence of recurring faults in any specific system. No failures, advisories, or defects appear across any test date. This cleanliness means the record offers no direct guidance on component wear patterns. A prospective buyer should therefore prioritise physical inspection of consumable items that high-mileage diesel SUVs typically demand. Brake discs and pads warrant close examination given the increased mileage accumulation since 2023. Suspension components, including air suspension if fitted, require assessment for wear given the vehicle's weight and the absence of any prior replacement indicators. Tyre condition across all four corners should be verified, noting that the 2025-2026 interval covered over 9,000 miles. The xDrive all-wheel-drive system and automatic transmission benefit from service history verification, as the MOT record does not capture drivetrain maintenance. Exhaust emissions equipment, including the diesel particulate filter and selective catalytic reduction system, should be confirmed operational given the vehicle's age and diesel architecture. Overall, the MOT profile presents favourably, though it cannot substitute for a full pre-purchase inspection and service history review.
