2015 Nissan X-Trail Acenta DCI 1.6L Heavy oil · BN65 BND

The most recent MOT test on 2025-06-03 confirms the vehicle passed with no defects recorded at 93,778 miles, though it was previously failed on 2025-05-23 at 93,700 miles—just 78 miles earlier—without any documented issues. This abrupt reversal suggests either a minor oversight in the initial test or a last-minute correction, but the absence of recurring faults in the last two cycles indicates no persistent mechanical failures. The 2023 and 2022 tests also show clean passes with no advisories, though a failure in March 2022 at 73,893 miles—followed by a pass in October at 77,664 miles—implies a brief but resolved issue. Overall, the trend is stable with no evidence of worsening structural or drivetrain concerns, though the rapid retest in May 2025 warrants scrutiny of whether the vehicle was driven between tests or if the failure was procedural rather than mechanical. The mileage progression suggests typical usage for its age, averaging around 8,500 miles annually, which aligns with moderate long-term operation rather than aggressive driving. There is a notable 15-month gap between the 2023 and 2022 tests, during which the vehicle accumulated 3,814 miles, indicating it was likely in regular use rather than stored. The most recent mileage jump of 78 miles between the 2025 failure and pass is unusual but not inherently alarming unless paired with evidence of rushed repairs. No extended periods of inactivity are evident, and the absence of advisories on wear items like tyres or suspension in recent tests suggests basic maintenance was not neglected. Given the clean MOT history, a buyer should prioritise a thorough inspection of the suspension components, particularly the rear bushes and coil springs, as these are common failure points on this model at this mileage. The abrupt 2025 retest raises questions about brake system integrity—check for uneven wear on discs or pads, binding calipers, or excessive dust accumulation, which could indicate past neglect. Structural corrosion should be examined at wheel arches, sills, and the subframe, as diesel models like this are prone to rust in high-salt regions. Finally, verify the exhaust system for leaks or excessive rust, as emissions-related failures are occasionally flagged without clear MOT records. No major red flags emerge from the data, but these areas demand hands-on verification.
