2013 Audi Q3 2.0L Diesel · C3 DYX

Recurring suspension component wear and thinning brake pads define the recent mechanical profile of this Audi Q3, as evidenced by the pass on 21 August 2026. The MOT history shows a persistent trend of advisories related to suspension bushings and linkages, specifically involving front suspension arm pins, Macpherson strut pins, and anti-roll bar linkages, which have appeared in various forms since 2024. While the vehicle has successfully passed its tests, the frequency of these advisories suggests a progressive degradation of the rubber components within the front and rear suspension assemblies. The vehicle has covered 143,473 miles over its thirteen-year lifespan, representing an average annual accumulation of approximately 11,036 miles. This usage pattern is consistent with typical long-term road use for a vehicle of this age. From a mechanical standpoint, this level of mileage necessitates close inspection of high-wear consumables and drivetrain components, as the cumulative distance is sufficient to have significantly aged the various rubber bushings and suspension mounts flagged in the recent testing cycle. Prospective buyers should pay particular attention to the suspension system during a test drive to determine if the recorded bushing wear has progressed beyond the advisory stage. Listen for dull knocks, clunks, or creaking noises when driving over uneven surfaces or speed bumps, as these are common symptoms of worn suspension arm pins or Macpherson strut bushings. Additionally, monitor the steering for any pulling to one side or instability at motorway speeds, which can occur when front-end bushings no longer maintain precise geometry. The most recent inspection also flagged thinning rear brake pads, which requires immediate verification of remaining friction material. During a road test, check for any increased pedal travel, grinding noises during deceleration, or a pulsating sensation through the brake pedal, which could indicate uneven pad wear or disc issues. Given the history of tyre-related advisories, including cracking, perishing, and punctures, a thorough visual inspection of the sidewalls and tread depth across all four tyres is also necessary to ensure they meet legal requirements and are not nearing the end of their serviceable life.
