2012 Audi A5 2.0L Petrol · DG12 FPU

This 2012 Audi A5 presents a stable and largely reassuring maintenance trend, culminating in a clean pass on 09 February 2026 at 55,019 miles. The most recent test flagged only one advisory: both nearside and offside front tyres were worn close to the legal limit and worn on edge. That points to a straightforward consumable replacement rather than a mechanical fault. The 2025 test noted a deteriorated rear registration plate, a minor cosmetic item, while the 2024, 2023, and 2021 tests recorded zero defects. The pattern is one of consistent, trouble-free motoring with only minor wear items surfacing at each inspection. The mileage profile is notably low for a vehicle of this age. Across roughly fourteen years, the odometer has advanced approximately 3,930 miles per year, well below the UK average. The record shows steady, incremental accumulation: 47,144 miles in August 2021, 50,159 in February 2023, 51,926 in February 2024, 53,148 in February 2025, and 55,019 in February 2026. There are no sudden jumps or suspicious gaps, suggesting regular but light use. The MOT history itself is sparse, with no test recorded between August 2021 and February 2023, a gap of roughly eighteen months, though the mileage progression during that period remains consistent with the overall low-usage pattern. The edge wear on both front tyres is the most telling detail in the record. Uneven or accelerated inner and outer edge wear on a Quattro or front-wheel-drive A5 typically indicates misaligned tracking, worn suspension bushes, or tired dampers allowing excessive camber shift under load. A buyer should inspect the front suspension arms, track rod ends, and drop links for play, and check whether the inner sidewalls show feathering or scalloped wear consistent with toe misalignment. Given the low mileage, original rubber components such as anti-roll bar bushes and subframe mounts may have aged rather than worn mechanically, so cracking or perishing on those parts is worth verifying. The absence of any braking, exhaust, or structural corrosion advisories across five consecutive tests is encouraging for a fourteen-year-old vehicle. Still, a personal inspection should cover the condition of the rear brake discs and pads, which on low-mileage cars can suffer from surface corrosion from prolonged standing. The exhaust system, particularly the flexible bellows on the downpipe, should be checked for early cracking. Underneath, examine the sills, subframe, and suspension mounting points for any signs of corrosion that may not yet have reached an MOT failure threshold but could indicate long periods of damp storage.
