2014 DAF Trucks FL 4.5L Diesel · EB14 GAS

The vehicle’s most recent MOT test on 2025-11-27 confirms it remains roadworthy with no defects recorded, maintaining a consistent pass history across all five tests since 2021. This suggests a stable maintenance pattern with no evidence of recurring or escalating mechanical issues. The absence of advisories or failings in any category—including brakes, suspension, emissions, or structural integrity—indicates the tester did not identify any critical wear or faults requiring immediate attention. However, the 2025 test occurred just seven months ago, meaning a full 12-month MOT cycle remains before the next due date. While this is technically within the legal window, buyers should verify whether the vehicle has undergone any interim servicing or repairs outside the MOT scope, particularly for high-mileage components like transmission, drivetrain, or exhaust systems. The recorded mileage of 133,494 miles over approximately 12 years equates to an average of 11,124 miles annually, which is typical for a commercial vehicle of this age and class. There are no gaps in MOT testing that would suggest prolonged neglect, nor are there abrupt spikes in mileage between tests that might indicate aggressive use. The consistent annual mileage suggests the vehicle has been operated under steady, predictable conditions rather than subjected to extreme or erratic usage patterns. That said, the lack of pre-MOT servicing records means buyers cannot assume routine maintenance—such as fluid changes, suspension inspections, or brake pad replacements—was performed between tests. Given the clean MOT history, the primary focus for an in-person inspection should centre on consumable components that are not routinely tested under MOT but are critical at this mileage. The suspension, including coil springs, bushes, and shock absorbers, should be examined for uneven wear, leaks, or binding—especially given the vehicle’s age and load-bearing role. Brake discs and calipers warrant close scrutiny for uneven wear patterns or signs of overheating, as commercial vehicles often experience accelerated brake fade. The exhaust system must be checked for corrosion, leaks, or excessive sagging, particularly around joints and mounts, while the chassis and underbody should be inspected for structural rust or damage that could compromise safety. Tyre condition, though not failing here, should still be verified for remaining tread depth and uniformity, as failing twice on this metric in prior tests would have triggered a fail. Finally, the engine bay should be inspected for fluid leaks, belt tension, and general cleanliness, as these can indicate deferred maintenance.
