2013 Ford Kuga 2.0L Diesel · ER53 XAN

The 2013 Ford Kuga presents a stable and exemplary maintenance trend, culminating in a clean pass at its most recent MOT on 13 March 2026 at 121,902 miles with zero defects recorded. This flawless record across all five available tests indicates a vehicle consistently maintained to a high mechanical standard. The absence of any advisories or failures suggests the previous owner addressed wear items proactively rather than waiting for components to reach a critical failure point. The mileage accumulation reveals a distinct shift in usage patterns over the vehicle's thirteen-year lifespan. Between November 2021 and December 2022, the Kuga covered roughly 20,267 miles in just over a year, indicating a period of heavy, sustained use. This high-demand phase continued through 2023, adding another 14,956 miles. However, the pattern changed drastically after December 2024. The mere 78 miles recorded between the December 2024 test and the March 2026 test suggest the vehicle has spent the last fifteen months sitting largely unused. Prolonged standing can cause flat-spotted tyres, brake disc corrosion, and seized brake calipers, which a static MOT cannot fully assess. Despite the pristine MOT record, the recent extended period of inactivity warrants a thorough physical inspection. A prospective buyer should pay close attention to the condition of the tyres for signs of perishing or flat-spotting from sitting stationary. Brake discs must be checked for surface rust and binding calipers, as moisture ingress during long periods of standing frequently compromises braking efficiency. Suspension bushes and coil springs on a 12-year-old SUV require scrutiny for age-related deterioration, particularly if the vehicle has been parked on uneven ground. The exhaust system and underbody should also be inspected for accelerated corrosion, a common issue when a vehicle stands still and condensation settles in the chassis.
