2003 MINI 1.6L Petrol · FC03 JUU

The roadworthiness of this vehicle is currently questionable following a failure in the most recent MOT test. While the car maintained a clean record with consecutive passes for several years, the April 30 2025 failure at 122,045 miles indicates a recent mechanical or regulatory issue that prevented certification. Because no specific defects were recorded for that failed entry, the current state of the vehicle remains unknown without a physical inspection, but the trend has shifted from stable to a state of immediate concern. The mileage profile is notably low for a 23-year-old vehicle, averaging approximately 5,300 miles per year. The data shows significant periods of low use, such as the only 5,794 miles covered between November 2022 and January 2024, and a mere 274 miles between the two most recent tests. This low mileage suggests the car sits for long periods, which on an older British manufactured car of this era often leads to the degradation of rubber components, perished seals, and internal corrosion that is not typically revealed by high mileage alone. A physical inspection must focus heavily on the structural integrity of the chassis and the condition of the suspension system. Given the age and the intermittent usage, the buyer should check for significant corrosion on the subframes and rear floor pans, which are common failure points on this model. The failure in November 2022 followed immediately by a pass the next day suggests a minor defect was rectified quickly, but the more recent 2025 failure requires a thorough check for seized brake calipers, worn bushes, or exhaust leaks that may have developed during the long of stationary periods.
