2012 Suzuki Swift SZ4 1.2L Petrol · JFZ 6642

This Suzuki Swift SZ4 presents a clean MOT history over the past three years, with the most recent test on 12 February 2026 at 82,173 miles passing without any defects. The trend is stable, with no advisories or failures recorded since the January 2024 retest at 72,529 miles, which itself passed immediately after a minor administrative failure. The absence of recurring issues suggests the vehicle has been well maintained in critical areas, though the single failed test in 2024—without listed defects—raises a minor curiosity about its cause, potentially a procedural oversight rather than a mechanical concern. The mileage accumulation of roughly 5,870 miles per year is unusually low for a 14-year-old vehicle, indicating either infrequent use or prolonged periods of inactivity. The gap between the 2022 test (66,969 miles) and the 2024 retests (72,529–77,372 miles) spans nearly two years with minimal mileage gain, reinforcing this pattern. Such low annual mileage reduces wear on consumables like tyres and brakes, but it also means components such as suspension bushes, coil springs, and brake fluid may have degraded slowly over time without regular stress. The lack of advisories in recent tests implies no obvious neglect, though long-term standing could still contribute to issues like seized bearings or degraded rubber seals. Given the clean MOT record, a buyer should still prioritise a thorough inspection of high-wear suspension elements, particularly the rear coil springs and bushings, which may have softened or deteriorated despite low mileage. The brake system—including calipers, discs, and hydraulic lines—should be checked for corrosion or binding, especially if the vehicle has spent extended periods in damp conditions. Exhaust emissions and structural integrity, while not flagged here, warrant verification, as rust or fatigue cracks can develop insidiously on older models. Tyre condition and tread depth remain critical, though the absence of advisories suggests they were likely compliant at the last test. No major red flags emerge from the history, but the unusual mileage pattern justifies extra scrutiny of components prone to slow degradation.
