2008 Honda XL 125 V-8 0.1L Petrol · LC58 BVA

The vehicle maintains a roadworthy status, though the maintenance trend shows signs of reactive rather than proactive care. The most recent test in April 2022 at 11,493 miles resulted in a pass with only a minor advisory regarding a worn drive chain. This indicates that while the motorcycle is functionally sound for road use, components are beginning to show signs of age-related wear despite the low total mileage. The mileage profile is exceptionally low for an eighteen-year-old vehicle, averaging only approximately 638 miles per year. There is a significant gap in usage between September 2019 at 10,286 miles and April 2022 at 11,493 miles, where only 1,207 miles covered covered nearly three years. While low mileage generally reduces mechanical wear on the engine and gearbox, such long periods of standing can lead to the degradation of rubber components, seals, and fuel, which the MOT record cannot fully capture. A buyer must focus their inspection on the braking system and the drivetrain due to previously recorded issues. The 2019 test flagged front brake pads nearing the minimum limit, suggesting that consumables are only replaced when they approach failure. Given the low usage, the buyer should specifically check for brake fluid ingress or perished caliper seals that may have seized due to lack of movement. The drive chain noted in 2022 requires a physical inspection for stretch and corrosion, as low-mileage bikes often suffer from dry, rusted links over time.
