2021 Volkswagen Polo Match TSI S-A 1.0L Petrol · MW21 ODB

This 2021 Volkswagen Polo Match TSI S-A presents a clean MOT record with no defects recorded across both tests, indicating a stable and well-maintained vehicle. The most recent test on 1 May 2025 at 4,989 miles passed without any advisories or failures, suggesting the car has been kept in good mechanical order. The absence of recurring faults points to attentive ownership and no underlying chronic issues requiring repeated attention. The mileage pattern is notably low for a five-year-old vehicle. Between the first test on 26 April 2024 at 4,200 miles and the most recent on 1 May 2025 at 4,989 miles, the car covered just 789 miles over roughly twelve months. That equates to an average of around 998 miles per year since new, well below the typical annual figure of 8,000 to 12,000 miles. Such minimal use raises the possibility of extended periods standing still, which can affect components like tyres, brake discs, and battery health through lack of regular operation rather than wear from mileage. A buyer should still carry out a thorough in-person inspection despite the clean paperwork. Low-mileage cars that sit unused can develop flat-spotted tyres, corroded brake discs, and moisture ingress in the exhaust or fuel system. Check the tyre sidewalls for date codes and perishing, even if tread depth appears adequate. Inspect the brake discs for surface corrosion and ensure the handbrake mechanism operates freely, as infrequent use can lead to sticking calipers or seized cables. The Polo's suspension and structural condition should also be assessed beneath the car, looking for any signs of corrosion on subframes, suspension mounting points, or exhaust hangers that can develop even on low-mileage vehicles exposed to road salt during short trips. The dual-clutch S-A gearbox deserves a test drive under varied conditions to confirm smooth engagement and no hesitation at low speeds, as DSG units benefit from regular use and can exhibit issues when left dormant for long periods.
