2005 Ford Focus 1.6L Petrol · PJ05 FVA

The vehicle presents a stable roadworthiness status, evidenced by consecutive clean passes across the last five inspections. The most recent test conducted in November 2025 at 72,632 miles resulted in no defects or advisories, indicating that the mechanical and safety components currently meet minimum regulatory standards. This consistency suggests the previous owners have maintained the vehicle to a standard that avoids the accumulation of recurring mechanical failures or structural degradation in recent years. The mileage pattern is exceptionally low for a 21-year-old vehicle, averaging approximately 3,459 miles per year. Between January 2022 and November 2025, the car covered 13,314 miles, showing a consistent but low-usage profile. The gap between the January 2022 and December 2022 tests shows a slight irregularity in scheduling, yet the vehicle remained roadworthy throughout. While low mileage reduces wear on the drivetrain and engine components, it increases the risk of degradation in rubber-based parts and fluid breakdown due to long periods of inactivity. Despite the clean MOT history, a physical inspection must focus on components susceptible to age-related decay rather than mileage. A buyer should check for structural corrosion on the rear subframe and sills, which are common failure points for this generation of Focus regardless of distance driven. Inspect the suspension bushes for cracking or tearing, as rubber components perish over time even when stationary. The brake discs should also be examined for surface pitting or scoring, as vehicles that sit infrequently often suffer from light rust on the braking surfaces.
