2006 Volvo XC90 2.4L Diesel · PK56 XBD

The vehicle presents a stable roadworthiness status, evidenced by the most recent MOT pass in March 2026 at 118,534 miles where no defects were recorded. This follows a period of clean passes over the last three years, despite a single failure in early April 2024. The ability to rectify that failure and secure a subsequent clean certificate just weeks later suggests the current owner is proactive in addressing immediate mechanical requirements to maintain the vehicle's legal status. The mileage profile is characteristically low for a twenty-year-old Volvo, averaging approximately 5,900 miles per year. Between April 2023 and March 2026, the car covered 12,090 miles, indicating a consistent usage pattern of roughly 4,000 miles annually. While this low mileage generally reduces the wear on the drivetrain and engine, the long intervals between tests can sometimes lead to the degradation of rubber-based components or fluid-related issues, which are not always captured by the MOT test alone. A buyer should focus their physical inspection on the structural integrity of the chassis and suspension, as these are common failure points for this model regardless of mileage. The lack of advisories in the most recent tests is encouraging, but the age of the vehicle necessitates a close look at corrosion on the subframe, control arm mounts, and exhaust system. Given that the car sits for extended periods, verifying the condition of the brake lines and the flexibility of the suspension bushes is essential to ensure that low-mileage components have not perished or seized during periods of low movement.
