2017 KIA Sportage 1.7L Diesel · SK67 OCN

The 2017 KIA Sportage has maintained a consistent MOT pass record across four consecutive tests, all conducted without any recorded defects or advisories. The most recent inspection, dated 2025-07-21 at 134,166 miles, confirms the vehicle remains roadworthy under current DVSA standards. This pattern suggests no recurring mechanical failures or structural concerns have been identified by official testers. However, the absence of advisories or defects does not preclude underlying issues—particularly in high-mileage components like suspension bushes, coil springs, or drivetrain seals—which may not always trigger MOT failures until they reach critical thresholds. The recorded mileage of 134,166 miles over nine years equates to approximately 14,907 miles annually, which is above the average for a vehicle of this age. The consistent mileage increments—rising by roughly 14,000 to 15,000 miles between each test—indicate steady use rather than periods of neglect or prolonged inactivity. There are no gaps in the MOT history, and the regular intervals align with the vehicle’s annual testing requirement. While this suggests the car has been driven consistently, the high annual mileage implies accelerated wear on consumables such as tyres, brake pads, and suspension components. Given the lack of MOT-reported issues, a buyer should prioritise a thorough inspection of high-wear areas that often fail silently. Focus on the suspension system—particularly the condition of rear coil springs, front/rear bushes, and shock absorbers—for signs of deterioration or leaks. Brake components, including calipers, discs, and hydraulic lines, should be checked for uneven wear, binding, or corrosion, especially given the elevated mileage. Examine the subframe and wheel arches for corrosion, as rust can compromise structural integrity over time. Finally, inspect the exhaust system for leaks or excessive sagging, as catalytic converter failures or exhaust support failures are common in this mileage bracket. While the MOT history is clean, these areas are critical for long-term reliability.
