2014 Volkswagen Passat 2.0L Diesel · VO64 MHY

The vehicle is currently roadworthy with a stable maintenance trend. The most recent MOT on 8 April 2025 at 177,462 miles resulted in a clean pass with no defects or advisories recorded. This follows a consistent pattern of clean passes dating back to August 2021, suggesting the car has been kept in a condition that meets minimum legal standards without recurring mechanical failures. The mileage is high for a 12 year old vehicle, averaging nearly 15,000 miles per year. A significant jump in usage occurred between August 2021 and September 2022, where the odometer rose from 142,405 to 160,462 miles. More recently, the vehicle covered 10,626 miles between November 2023 and April 2025. This level of sustained long distance use typically points to motorway driving, which is generally less taxing on the engine than urban stop start cycles but accelerates wear on specific chassis components. Despite the clean MOT record, the high mileage necessitates a targeted physical inspection of high wear items. A buyer should examine the suspension bushes, coil springs, and shock absorbers for fatigue, as these rarely trigger MOT failures until they are completely perished. The brake discs and pads should be checked for thinning, and the drivetrain should be inspected for oil leaks or excessive play in the joints. The absence of any recorded advisories over the last five years is unusual for a vehicle of this age and mileage. This suggests either a very rigorous preventative maintenance regime by the previous owner or a lenient testing history. A thorough check for structural corrosion on the sills and underbody is recommended to ensure the chassis integrity matches the clean paperwork.
