2006 Bentley Continental 6.0L Petrol · W1 ERR

A solitary engine‑management light fault is the only recorded defect in the MOT history, and it was cleared on the same day it was logged, leaving three successive passes with no further advisories. This pattern indicates that, aside from that isolated electronic issue, the vehicle has presented a clean road‑worthiness record across the last three years, with the most recent test on 27 April 2026 confirming a pass without defects. At 59,510 mi the car averages just under 3,000 mi per year, a mileage figure that is markedly low for a 2006 model. Such limited annual accumulation suggests the vehicle has spent considerable time off the road or has been driven only intermittently, which can reduce wear on consumables but may also expose components to prolonged inactivity‑related degradation. The MOT chronology shows no gaps longer than a year, implying the car has been regularly inspected despite its modest use. When evaluating the engine‑management system, confirm that the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) remains extinguished under all operating conditions and that there is no loss of power, rough idle, or abnormal exhaust smoke. A functional on‑board diagnostics readout should be obtainable via a compatible scan tool, and any stored fault codes should be cleared. Pay particular attention to the throttle body, fuel injectors and associated wiring for signs of corrosion or loose connections, as these are common sources of intermittent MIL activation on older luxury engines. Given the vehicle’s age, a thorough examination of the suspension bushings, ball joints and anti‑roll bar mounts is advisable; listen for clunks or excessive play when traversing bumps. Inspect the brake discs and pads for uneven wear or glazing, and test for pedal pulsation that could indicate warped rotors. Finally, verify the condition of the drivetrain seals and exhaust system for any oil or coolant seepage, and ensure the steering feels stable without pull, as these areas are prone to wear regardless of the low mileage recorded.
