2010 BMW 520 2.0L Diesel · WJ60 AMV

The 2010 BMW 520d presents a clean and stable MOT history, with no advisories or defects recorded across the five most recent tests up to November 2025. The latest inspection at 166,091 miles—just eight months ago—confirmed full roadworthiness, reinforcing a consistent pattern of passing without major mechanical concerns. This suggests the vehicle has either been well-maintained by its owners or has benefited from naturally low-wear components for its age. The absence of recurring advisories on critical systems like brakes, suspension, or structural integrity implies no immediate red flags, though this does not preclude hidden issues beyond the scope of a visual MOT test. Mileage accumulation has been steady and predictable, averaging around 10,381 miles per year, which aligns with typical usage for a vehicle of this age. The most recent 11,296-mile interval between the October 2024 and November 2025 tests is slightly above the annual average, but not unusually aggressive. There are no gaps longer than 12 months between tests, ruling out prolonged neglect or storage-related deterioration. The data shows no sudden spikes in mileage that might indicate heavy usage or potential abuse, though the lack of advisories on wear items like tyres or brakes could also reflect infrequent replacement rather than exceptional condition. For a prospective buyer, the absence of MOT advisories simplifies due diligence but does not eliminate the need for a thorough pre-purchase inspection. Key areas to scrutinise include the suspension—particularly rear coil springs and bushings, which are common wear points on this model—and the braking system, where binding calipers or uneven disc wear might not always be caught in a basic MOT. Structural corrosion, especially around wheel arches and sills, should be checked for signs of surface rust or compromised integrity, given the vehicle’s age. While the MOT history is reassuring, a professional inspection of fluid levels, drivetrain health, and any prior accident damage would be prudent given the car’s 16-year lifespan.
