2006 Vauxhall Astra 1.9L Diesel · XP02 BEB

The vehicle is currently roadworthy with a stable maintenance trend over the last three years. The most recent test conducted in June 2025 at 131,371 miles passed without mechanical failures, noting only minor issues regarding a damaged windscreen and an obstructed seat belt de-inspection. This represents an improvement from the 2021 test which flagged multiple mechanical and consumable defects, suggesting the current or previous owners have addressed pressing safety items over time. At 131,371 miles, the Astra has averaged approximately 6,500 miles per year, which aligns with typical usage for a twenty-year-old vehicle. The record shows consistent usage patterns, with roughly 14,000 miles covered between May 2021 and May 2022, and another 6,300 miles in the year leading to the latest test. This steady accumulation suggests the vehicle has not suffered from long periods of stagnation, which often leads to seized calipers or perished rubber components in older cars. A buyer should focus their physical inspection on the front and rear suspension components. The 2021 record previously identified play in the offside front suspension arm ball joint and wear on the nearside rear radius arm bush. While these were not flagged in subsequent tests, the age and mileage of the vehicle make these components prone to renewed failure. Additionally, the front brake discs were noted as pitted and scored in 2021; a check of current disc thickness and surface condition is necessary to ensure they have been replaced. The history also shows a recurring pattern of tyre damage, with nails noted in both 2023 and 2024. The buyer should inspect all sidewalls for perishing or cracking, similar to the inner sidewall issue found in 2021. Given the vehicle's age, a thorough check of the structural sills and floor pans for corrosion is also vital, as the MOT record does not explicitly detail structural integrity beyond the standard pass criteria.
