2001 Honda CR-V 2.0L Petrol · Y36 LMA

The vehicle history is defined by a pattern of recurring structural corrosion and suspension degradation rather than a clean roadworthiness record. The most recent test on 30 December 2021 recorded a pass, yet this outcome was accompanied by significant advisories regarding sub-frame corrosion and worn brake discs. This trend of wear is consistent with the vehicle's age and mileage, indicating that the chassis and suspension components are approaching the end of their serviceable life. With a recorded mileage of 134,640 miles, this 2001 Honda CR-V represents a high-mileage example of its generation. The annual accumulation rate of approximately 5,386 miles suggests sustained usage over its quarter-century lifespan, which correlates with the observed wear on suspension linkages and braking components. The record shows a period of instability between 2020 and 2021, including dangerous failures related to tyre tread depth and a major failure concerning seatbelt anchorage strength, suggesting that the vehicle may have been subjected to harsher conditions or less frequent maintenance during that interval. Inspect the suspension system closely, particularly the rear trailing arms and rear suspension arms, which have been flagged for worn bushes or pins in multiple tests since 2017. During the test drive, listen for knocks or clunks over bumps and check for excessive movement in the rear axle. Furthermore, the advisory history regarding sub-frame corrosion requires visual inspection of the chassis rails and mounting points to ensure structural integrity has not been compromised. Brake system health is a critical area of concern, evidenced by repeated advisories on disc wear and corrosion to brake hoses. Verify that the steering rack gaiter is intact to prevent dirt ingress, and ensure the brake fluid is free of moisture if the vehicle has been off the road. The 2021 failure regarding seatbelt anchorage strength in the inner wheel arches must be verified by checking the mounting points for rust or deformation, as this is a safety-critical structural defect.
