2016 Peugeot 2008 1.2L Petrol · YH16 CBJ

The 2016 Peugeot 2008 presents a stable and improving maintenance trend, culminating in a completely clean pass on 14 July 2025 at 62,283 miles with zero advisories or defects. That is a strong result for a ten-year-old vehicle and indicates the most recent keeper addressed the faults flagged in prior years. The record shows a clear resolving pattern: recurring constant velocity boot and brake disc advisories that appeared between 2022 and 2024 appear to have been rectified before the 2025 test. No new defects have emerged since, suggesting the car is currently in sound mechanical order from a roadworthiness standpoint. The mileage accumulation is consistent and unremarkable at approximately 6,228 miles per year, which is typical for a vehicle of this age. There are no suspicious gaps in the MOT record or sudden jumps in recorded distance that would suggest odometer tampering or prolonged periods of disuse. The annual tests run almost exactly twelve months apart from 2021 through 2025, and the mileage increments between tests are steady, ranging from roughly 7,000 to 8,000 miles per year. This pattern points to regular, moderate use rather than high-mileage commuting or long-term neglect. A buyer should still carry out a focused physical inspection of the front and rear drivetrain components, given the history of constant velocity boot deterioration on both the nearside and offside. The 2024 test flagged a severely deteriorated nearside front CV boot, and earlier tests recorded weeping and deterioration on the nearside outer gaiter. While the clean 2025 result suggests these were replaced, a visual check for fresh boot kits, grease splatter, and any clicking under lock-to-lock steering rotation is prudent. The rear brake discs were noted as worn in 2024, so pad thickness and disc condition should be verified, particularly if the car has covered additional miles since the last test. The front exhaust mount was flagged as in poor condition during the 2023 test at 46,319 miles. A deteriorated mount can allow excessive exhaust movement, leading to stress fractures on the downpipe or manifold and eventual exhaust gas leaks. Inspect the mount rubber for perishing and check for soot staining around joints. Given the vehicle's age and the history of minor structural advisories, a thorough underside inspection for corrosion on subframes, suspension mounting points, and brake lines is recommended, even though no structural defects were formally recorded. The clean recent MOT is encouraging, but the earlier pattern of recurring consumable and drivetrain faults warrants a careful pre-purchase inspection.
