2011 Volkswagen Golf 2.0L Diesel · YR61 KGE

This 2011 Volkswagen Golf presents a consistent history of passing tests over the last several years. The most recent inspection on 11 November 2025 at 86,367 miles resulted in a clean pass with no defects recorded, indicating a period of stability where the vehicle met all roadworthiness standards. Looking back to 2020, the car has maintained five consecutive passes without advisories, suggesting that the previous owners have addressed necessary mechanical maintenance before it reached a point of failure. The vehicle shows exceptionally low mileage for its age, averaging approximately 5,700 miles per year. While low mileage often reduces wear on the drivetrain and engine, it can lead to the degradation of rubber-based components and corrosion due to stationary periods. Between 2021 and 2025, the car covered 10,389 miles, which confirms very light annual usage. This pattern necessitates a physical check of flat-spotted tyres, perished suspension bushes, and seals, as these parts often suffer more from time than from high-mileage. Historical records indicate some recurring issues with brake maintenance. In October 2014 at 46,932 miles, the tester noted that both service and parking brakes only just met efficiency requirements. A similar trend resurfaced in 2015 when rear pads were 85% worn, and again in 2017 when an offside rear brake pad failed for being below the 1.5mm threshold. These entries represent consumable wear items rather than systemic mechanical failure, but they suggest a history where brake service was deferred until the point of legal failure. Minor failures in 2019 regarding insecure under-bonnet felt and 2016 regarding a cracked tyre and windscreen damage were resolved in subsequent tests. Since there are no advisories listed on the last five annual tests, the vehicle appears to be in a well-kept state. A buyer should still focus their inspection on the current state of the brake discs and suspension components to ensure the low-mileage usage has not resulted in corrosion or seized calipers.
