Bugatti Veyron 16.4

The 8.0-litre W16 engine uses a complex dry-sump lubrication system with multiple oil circuits. Valve cover gaskets, turbo oil feed lines, and sump seals are prone to degradation from the extreme heat cycles. Oil consumption can increase significantly on higher-mileage cars. A full reseal of the engine is a major job requiring body panel removal.

The Veyron uses Michelin Pilot Sport PAX tyres that are glued to the wheels with a special adhesive. These tyres cost approximately £33,000 per set and must be fitted using specialist equipment — only a handful of PAX fitting machines exist worldwide. The adhesive requires replacement every 18 months regardless of use. Wheels must be replaced every three tyre changes to maintain bead seal integrity at 250+ mph.

The Veyron has an extraordinary cooling system with three main radiators and seven smaller auxiliary units. Any of these can develop leaks, and the complex pipework connecting them is prone to degradation. The sheer number of radiators makes cooling system diagnosis expensive and time-consuming. Coolant leaks can lead to overheating if not caught early.
