The SC 430 complex electric-hydraulic retractable roof relies on eight hydraulic actuators, an electric pump in the boot, and multiple positional microswitches. Over time, hydraulic ram seals can weep fluid into the luggage cavity, leading to low reservoir levels, jerky operation, or complete roof stalling midway through its cycle. Additionally, microswitches located in the boot lid and windscreen header rail can suffer from contact corrosion or misaligned strike plates, causing the roof ECU to halt operation and trigger an audible warning beep.

The bespoke Mark Levinson audio system features an 8-inch rear subwoofer mounted on the parcel shelf and an amplifier located in the right-hand boot recess. Over time, the foam surround on the subwoofer speaker cone disintegrates from age and heat, causing severe acoustic distortion and rattling during bass notes. Concurrently, degraded rubber tail lamp gaskets or blocked boot drain channels allow rainwater to drip directly onto the amplifier module below, short-circuiting the audio system and blowing amplifier output channels.
