  • ✓On the E60 V10, demand proof of rod bearing and throttle actuator replacement; without this, engine failure is a matter of when, not if.
  • ✓On the F10 V8, check for extreme oil consumption and coolant leaks from the turbo lines located in the hot 'V' of the engine.
  • ✓Inspect the incredibly expensive brake discs on all models; carbon-ceramics (gold calipers) must be weighed to check for wear.
  • ✓Test the M xDrive system on the F90; ensure it switches seamlessly to 2WD mode and there is no binding from the transfer case.
  • ✓Verify the 1,200-mile running-in service was stamped correctly, and check the overall service history for regular diff and gearbox fluid changes.
