Buying Tips for the 2014 BMW X6 (F16)

  • Check the N57 (early) or B57 (late) diesel engines for smooth running and ensure the EGR cooler recall has been completed.
  • Test the adaptive M suspension or air suspension for knocking noises or a harsh ride, as replacement dampers are very expensive.
  • Inspect the large alloy wheels for severe kerb damage and check that the staggered tyre setup matches perfectly in brand and wear.
  • Verify the operation of the digital instrument cluster and iDrive 6 system; ensure there is no screen delamination or lag.
  • Check the active anti-roll bars (Dynamic Drive, if fitted) for hydraulic fluid leaks around the valve blocks.
  • Ensure the rear passenger doors open and close smoothly; the shape of the door makes the seals prone to tearing.
