Turbocharger Failure
SeriousEngineAll 9-5 engines use a turbocharger, and lack of maintenance or oil sludge can cause premature turbo bearing failure. A blown turbo can send oil into the intake or exhaust, causing smoke and potential engine damage.
White/blue smoke from exhaust, Sudden loss of power, Whistling or siren noise from engine bay, Oil consumption increase
- Listen for turbo whistle on acceleration
- Check for oil in the intercooler pipework
- Look for signs of oil burning or smoke
