2015 Mercedes-Benz B-Class 1.6L Petrol · DH56 WAL

Consistent roadworthiness is the defining characteristic of this vehicle, which has maintained a clean MOT pass record for the past four years, including the most recent successful inspection conducted on 5 October 2026. Aside from a minor lighting failure in 2022 and a tyre-related advisory in 2020, the vehicle has demonstrated a stable history of compliance with safety standards. This lack of recurring structural or mechanical defects suggests that the vehicle has not been subjected to chronic issues, though the absence of reported advisories does not preclude the presence of underlying wear common to a vehicle of this age. Accumulating 41,372 miles over an eleven-year lifespan results in an average of approximately 3,761 miles per annum, a figure significantly below the national average for a vehicle of this type. While this low usage pattern reduces the cumulative wear on the drivetrain and internal engine components, it necessitates a focused inspection of perishable items that may have aged due to time rather than distance. Components such as rubber suspension bushings, seals, and brake friction surfaces may have experienced limited movement, which can sometimes lead to premature hardening or surface corrosion if the vehicle has remained stationary for extended periods. Given the history of tyre degradation noted in 2020, a prospective buyer should conduct a thorough visual inspection of all tyre sidewalls for signs of perishing or cracking, regardless of the current tread depth. During the test drive, pay close attention to the suspension response when traversing uneven surfaces; listen for any knocking or metallic clatter that might indicate that the rubber bushings or drop links have reached the end of their service life. Any steering vagueness or a tendency for the vehicle to pull to one side should be investigated as a potential symptom of seized or unevenly worn suspension geometry. The braking system, while not flagged for defects in recent years, should be evaluated for responsiveness and pedal feel. During a controlled stop, check for any judder through the pedal or steering wheel, which could indicate warped brake discs or binding calipers resulting from infrequent use. Furthermore, ensure that the electronic parking brake engages and releases smoothly, as these systems can occasionally develop faults if the mechanism is not used regularly. A comprehensive check of the underside for any surface corrosion on the subframe or brake lines is also advisable, as these areas are prone to oxidation in vehicles that spend significant time parked in damp environments.
