1988 Fiat Ducato 2.5L Diesel · F484 OJE

The vehicle currently holds a valid MOT certificate issued on 22 October 2025, which remains valid until October 2026. The maintenance trend appears stable, as the most recent test resulted in a pass with zero recorded defects. While the vehicle failed its initial inspections in both 2021 and 2025, the lack of specific defect data suggests these failures may have been administrative or related to minor issues rectified immediately before the subsequent pass. The absence of logged advisories in the recent history indicates that the vehicle has been maintained to a functional standard, though this does not rule out underlying mechanical fatigue common in a platform of this vintage. With an odometer reading of 99,363 miles over 38 years, the vehicle averages approximately 2,615 miles annually. This low usage pattern often points to long periods of inactivity, which can be as detrimental to mechanical longevity as high-mileage wear. The significant gaps between the 2021 and 2025 tests suggest the Ducato may have spent extended time in storage or off-road, potentially leading to seized components or perished rubber seals. Low-mileage vehicles of this era frequently suffer from internal engine degradation if oil changes were neglected during periods of dormancy. Prospective buyers must prioritise a rigorous physical inspection of the structural integrity, specifically focusing on the chassis rails, wheel arches, and floor pans for corrosion. Fiat Ducatos of this generation are highly susceptible to structural rust, which may not always be captured in the surface-level MOT data. Inspect the braking system for signs of binding calipers and check the condition of all suspension bushes and rubber gaiters, as these components often deteriorate when a vehicle remains stationary for years. Verify the cooling system for signs of neglect and inspect the engine bay for fluid leaks that may have developed while the vehicle was not in regular operation.
