2008 Toyota Yaris 1.3L Petrol · FV08 AFJ

The 2008 Toyota Yaris has maintained a consistent roadworthiness record through five consecutive MOT tests, with the most recent inspection on 2025-05-09 at 174,901 miles passing without any defects or advisories. This suggests the vehicle has been reliably maintained within legal limits for the past three years, though the absence of advisories does not preclude underlying wear beyond MOT thresholds. The final test date of May 2025 places the vehicle just over a year past its due date, meaning it has been driven legally for approximately 10,864 miles since then. While this is within the 12-month grace period, a buyer should verify whether the current owner has been monitoring for pre-MOT issues, as the lack of advisories in prior tests implies no major failures were reported. The mileage progression of roughly 9,700 miles annually is typical for a vehicle of this age, with no abrupt spikes or prolonged stagnation. The interval between tests remains consistent at around 12 months, and the recorded mileage aligns with the expected wear for a car nearing 18 years old. There are no red flags in the data suggesting neglect or excessive mileage accumulation, though the absence of service records means wear on non-MOT-tested components—such as timing belts, transfer cases (if applicable), or differential fluids—cannot be confirmed. Given the clean MOT history, a buyer should prioritise an inspection of high-wear items that fall outside MOT scrutiny, such as suspension bushes and coil springs for cracking or excessive play, particularly around the rear axle where binding calipers or warped brake discs are more likely to develop. The brakes, while not flagged in tests, should be checked for uneven wear or corrosion on the discs and pads, as the vehicle’s age increases the risk of structural fatigue. Additionally, a thorough examination of the underbody for corrosion—especially around the sills, subframe, and exhaust mounts—is critical, as this is a common failure point for vehicles of this era. The engine bay should be inspected for leaks, particularly around the oil and coolant systems, while the interior should reveal no signs of water ingress or electrical faults that might indicate a longer-term issue.
