1991 Morgan 4/4 1.6L Petrol · H182 VWP

The vehicle currently holds a stable roadworthiness status, having achieved consecutive clean passes following a period of instability in early 2023. The most recent inspection on 24 June 2025 at 75,828 miles resulted in no recorded defects. This indicates that the issues causing the previous failures have been addressed and rectified, and the vehicle has since maintained a consistent standard of mechanical presentation over the last two annual cycles. The mileage pattern reflects exceptionally low usage for a 35-year-old vehicle, averaging approximately 2,167 miles per year. Between June 2023 and June 2025, the car covered only 1,736 miles, suggesting it is kept as a seasonal vehicle used sparingly in fair weather. While low mileage reduces wear on the drivetrain and engine components, it often leads to the degradation of rubber-based parts and fluid seals due to lack of use. The rapid sequence of tests in April and June 2023, where the car travelled just 13 miles between two failures, highlights a period of focused maintenance to bring the vehicle back to road standards. A buyer must conduct a thorough physical inspection of the chassis and wood bodywork, as low-mileage Morgans are prone to structural corrosion and rot that MOT tests may not fully capture until they become critical. Given the age, check for perished suspension bushes, cracked brake lines, and seized calipers which often result from standing periods. The previous failures in 2023 necessitate verifying that the braking system and exhaust mounting remain secure, ensuring that the repairs made at that time were not merely temporary fixes.
