1991 BMW 3 Series 2.0L Petrol · H762 HLT

The vehicle currently holds a valid MOT certificate following a successful test on 17 November 2025. While the record shows a failure on the same date, the lack of recorded defects suggests this was likely an administrative error or a minor non-mechanical issue that was rectified immediately. The maintenance trend appears stable, as the car passed its most recent inspection without any noted defects or advisories, indicating the current mechanical state is satisfactory for road use. At 109,465 miles over a 35-year lifespan, the vehicle averages approximately 3,128 miles per annum. This low annual usage suggests the car has spent significant periods in storage or served as a secondary vehicle rather than a daily driver. While low mileage often preserves drivetrain components, it frequently leads to issues with perished rubber seals, seized brake calipers, and fuel system degradation. The sparse MOT history provided does not reveal a pattern of neglect, yet the age of the vehicle necessitates a cautious approach regarding long-term storage effects. Prospective buyers should prioritise a thorough inspection of the structural integrity of the chassis and sills, as 1990s BMW models are prone to corrosion in these areas. You must examine the suspension bushes, ball joints, and coil springs for signs of perishing or cracking, as these components often deteriorate due to age rather than high mileage. Verify the condition of the brake lines and fuel hoses for signs of cracking or weeping, as these are common failure points in vehicles that have seen limited road time. A cold start is essential to listen for timing chain noise or uneven idle, which could indicate a lack of recent servicing despite the clean MOT record.
