2005 Aprilia Atlantic 125 0.1L Petrol · HNZ 3534

The Aprilia Atlantic 125 presents a clean and stable roadworthiness record, with both its most recent MOT in January 2025 (11,513 miles) and the prior test in March 2022 (10,891 miles) passing without any defects. The absence of advisories or failures in either test suggests the vehicle has been well-maintained within the scope of its MOT requirements, though the lack of recorded mileage between tests—particularly the three-year gap—raises questions about whether the vehicle has been stored or used very lightly. No signs of recurring mechanical issues or deferred repairs appear in the official records, which is a positive indicator of reliability for a vehicle of this age and low mileage. The mileage pattern is highly unusual for a 21-year-old vehicle, averaging just 548 miles per year. This suggests either infrequent use, long periods of inactivity, or potential underreporting of mileage. The 622-mile increase over three years (from 10,891 to 11,513) is minimal and does not align with typical annual usage patterns. Without additional service records, it’s impossible to confirm whether the vehicle has been properly maintained outside of MOT compliance, but the low mileage does reduce expected wear on major components like suspension bushes, brake pads, and drivetrain seals. Given the sparse MOT history, a prospective buyer should prioritise a thorough pre-purchase inspection, particularly focusing on components that may degrade even with low mileage. Structural integrity checks—such as corrosion in wheel arches, chassis welds, and suspension mounting points—are critical, as rust can develop insidiously when a vehicle sits unused. The brakes, including caliper operation and disc condition, should be examined closely, as binding or uneven wear could have gone unnoticed without regular driving. Similarly, inspect the condition of the battery, as prolonged inactivity often accelerates terminal corrosion. Fluid levels (brake, clutch, and engine oil) should also be verified, as stagnant fluids can degrade over time. While the MOT record offers no red flags, the vehicle’s low and inconsistent mileage history introduces uncertainty about its true condition. A buyer should treat this as an opportunity to verify maintenance logs, service intervals, and any prior repairs—especially if the vehicle has been stored for extended periods. The absence of defects in the MOT does not guarantee the absence of hidden issues, particularly in a vehicle this old.
