1998 Vauxhall Vectra 1.8L Petrol · J77 WBD

The 1998 Vauxhall Vectra presents as roadworthy with a stable maintenance trend. The most recent test on 12 November 2024 at 31,616 miles returned a pass with no defects recorded, continuing an unbroken run of clean results across the available history. Mileage accumulation has been exceptionally low for a 28-year-old vehicle. The record shows 31,557 miles at the 8 November 2021 test, rising only to 31,573 by 26 October 2022, 31,595 by 8 November 2023, and 31,616 by November 2024. That equates to roughly 20 miles per year across the last three tests. Such minimal use over a long period suggests the car has stood idle for extended spells, which the sparse and clean MOT data does not contradict. A buyer should still commission a physical inspection before purchase. Standing time of this duration risks perished rubber components, seized brake calipers, and corroded brake discs or lines that a short MOT drive may not expose. The tester recorded no advisories on suspension bushes, coil springs, exhaust, or structural integrity, yet age-related corrosion beneath sills and subframes remains a known Vectra weakness unseen in the paperwork. Given the flawless test record and negligible annual mileage, previous keepers appear to have stored the car rather than neglected basic upkeep. Verify the odometer reading against service stamps and check for moisture ingress or flat-spotted tyres from prolonged storage.
