1994 Yamaha FZR600 0.6L Petrol · L584 REW

The vehicle’s most recent MOT on 2021-09-18 at 8,923 miles recorded a pass with no defects, indicating a stable roadworthiness status. However, the prior test on 2020-09-12 at 8,920 miles resulted in a failure despite no defects being noted, suggesting potential technical inconsistencies or procedural issues. The 2006-03-01 MOT at 8,830 miles also passed without defects, but the 14-year gap between that test and the 2020 failure raises concerns about maintenance continuity. The absence of defects in recent records does not confirm mechanical soundness, as the last inspection predates the current date by over five years. The bike’s recorded mileage of 8,923 miles over 32 years equates to an average of 279 miles annually, reflecting minimal use or prolonged inactivity. This low mileage may contribute to component degradation, such as seized bearings, battery drain, or corrosion in static environments. The MOT history lacks detail on specific faults, but the sparse data—particularly the 14-year gap between 2006 and 2020—implies irregular servicing. The 2020 failure, occurring just 3 miles prior to the 2021 pass, further complicates the trend, as no defects were recorded in either test. A buyer should prioritise inspecting the chassis for rust, particularly around the frame and underbody, given the vehicle’s age and low usage. The suspension components, including bushes and coil springs, may require scrutiny for stiffness or wear due to infrequent operation. Brake systems, including calipers and discs, should be checked for binding or corrosion, as static periods can accelerate deterioration. Additionally, the electrical system and battery should be tested, as prolonged inactivity often leads to failure. The lack of detailed MOT findings necessitates a hands-on assessment to confirm the bike’s mechanical integrity.
