1993 Honda NTV 0.6L Petrol · OIW 1448

The 1993 Honda NTV passed its most recent MOT on 19 November 2024 with no defects recorded, and the preceding test on 16 February 2024 also yielded a clean result. This indicates a stable roadworthiness trend over the past year, with no evidence of recurring mechanical issues or progressive failures. The vehicle’s compliance with MOT standards remains consistent, though the absence of advisories or minor faults does not preclude underlying wear—particularly in components like suspension bushes, coil springs, and brake calipers—given its age and low mileage. The recorded mileage of 15,923 miles over approximately 33 years suggests exceptionally light usage, averaging just 483 miles annually. This pattern is atypical for a vehicle of this age, as such low mileage often implies prolonged periods of inactivity rather than regular, low-mileage operation. The minimal mileage progression between tests—just nine miles between the February and November 2024 MOTs—raises questions about whether the vehicle has been driven at all since the last inspection. Extended periods of non-use can accelerate deterioration in rubber seals, battery health, and fuel system integrity, even if the MOT tests have not yet uncovered failures. Given the vehicle’s age and the lack of MOT advisories, a prospective buyer should prioritise an in-person inspection of critical high-wear areas. The suspension—particularly the rear bushes and coil springs—should be examined for dry rot or excessive play, as these components degrade rapidly when unused. Brake discs and calipers warrant close scrutiny for uneven wear or corrosion, while the binding calipers noted in older models of this type may have developed stiffness over time. Structural integrity, especially around the sills and wheel arches, should be checked for corrosion, as rust can compromise the chassis even when the vehicle has not been driven frequently. Finally, the battery and fuel system should be tested, as prolonged inactivity can lead to sulphation or fuel line deterioration.
