A significant lapse in roadworthiness is the primary concern for this vehicle, which has not seen a successful MOT test since at least August 2022. The record from that date shows a failure despite no specific defects being listed, suggesting an administrative anomaly or a critical issue that led to the vehicle being withdrawn from service. This extended period of inactivity represents a substantial mechanical risk, as the current state of the vehicle is entirely unverified. The recorded mileage of 121,582 miles is notably low for a thirty-year-old vehicle, averaging approximately 4,053 miles per year. While this suggests lower wear on the internal engine components and drivetrain, such a low annual accumulation often indicates a life of light duty or prolonged periods of storage. In the context of a vehicle that has been off the road for several years, this low-use profile increases the likelihood of seized components and the degradation of rubber seals. Given the lack of detailed defect data from the 2022 failure and the subsequent years of inactivity, a comprehensive physical inspection is mandatory. Focus specifically on the structural integrity of the chassis and sills, as corrosion is a common failure point for vehicles of this era. During a test drive, listen for knocks or clunks from the suspension bushes and coil springs, which may have perished or seized during the vehicle's long period of standing. Particular attention should be paid to the braking system, checking for binding calipers or seized sliders resulting from the long-term layup. Ensure the engine reaches operating temperature without overheating and check for oil leaks around the seals that may have dried out. Any steering pull or vibration at speed should be scrutinized as a potential sign of compromised wheel bearings or tyre deformation.
